Adopt Our Cats

Adopting a cat is more than just giving a home, it’s opening your heart to a new companion who will bring joy, comfort, and countless unforgettable moments.

Every cat in our care has a unique story and has often overcome many challenges to get to this point. When you adopt, you’re not only providing a forever home for that one special cat, but you’re also making room for us to rescue and help more cats in need.

We carefully match cats to the right homes, considering their personalities, needs, and backgrounds to ensure a happy and lasting bond. Whether you’re looking for a playful kitten, a calm adult, or a quiet senior, we’ll help you find the perfect feline friend to suit your lifestyle.

Adopting means commitment - a promise to care for your new companion for life. But it’s also one of the most rewarding decisions you’ll ever make. We provide ongoing support and advice to make the transition as smooth as possible for both you and your new fur-baby.

Our Policy

Indoor-only homes

Our cats live safest and happiest indoors, where they’re safe from dangers like traffic, fights, or getting lost - and local wildlife stays protected too.

Relocation

We can rehome our cats across the UK, provided the home is suitable. Pet taxi's can be arranged at additional cost.

Healthcare & responsibility
Every cat leaves our care fully vet checked and neutered (where age/health allows), vaccinated, microchipped, blood tested for FIV/FeLV, and treated for fleas and worms. Once adopted, ongoing routine care such as boosters, parasite treatment, any required medication and vet visits - becomes the responsibility of the adopter.

Returning a cat
If circumstances ever change and you’re unable to keep your cat, they must be returned to Every Cat Matters. This ensures they’ll always have a safe place to go and will never face abandonment or an uncertain future.

Lifestyle Fit
We carefully match each cat to the right home. Some cats may not be suited to young children, other pets, or busy households, and we’ll always discuss this openly to make sure the adoption is a good fit for everyone.

Adoption Fees

Our adoption fee is £270 per cat, which helps cover veterinary care, microchipping, vaccinations, and other essentials. This support allows us to keep rescuing cats in need.

In fact, to rescue a single cat, ensure they are healthy and ready for adoption, and rehome them safely in the UK costs us around £800, for simple cases. Your adoption contribution makes a real difference towards this cost, helping us care for more cats and give them the loving homes they deserve.

For certain purebred cats, such as (but not limited to) Ragdolls, Persians, Turkish Angoras, or Sphynx, our adoption fee is £370. These cats often require additional costs to relocate and care for, especially brachycephalic (short-nosed) breeds, who may need extra veterinary support. As these breeds also tend to command very high prices elsewhere, setting a higher adoption fee helps us achieve two important goals: ensuring that those applying to adopt these sought-after breeds are ready to give them the lifelong love they deserve - not just the short-lived attention that can come with a ‘fashionable’ pet, and giving adopters the knowledge that by rescuing a purebred cat, they are helping another rescue cat in need too.

Every adopted cat leaves with their veterinary-stamped vaccination passport and a carrier. If you don’t need the carrier, a £30 disposal fee applies.

Ongoing Support

Adoption doesn’t end the day you bring your cat home.

We provide advice and support whenever you need it, to help your cat settle happily into their new life.

Adoption Testimonials

Jemma

I adopted pippin in December 2020. I was initially unsure about the process of adopting from abroad, but everything was explained to me and I was immediately put at ease. All my questions were answered and communication was great from the get go.

When I was enquiring about pippin, I could just tell how much she had been loved and cared for.

When pippin was making the journey over, I was kept informed along the way. I was also reassured that they would be around for support if I needed any help/guidance while pippin was settling (or at any point afterwards) but pippin settled amazingly well. She adapted quite easily and we soon became firm friends.

It's now been 3yrs since pippin arrived and I've never once regretted my decision to rescue a cat from the UAE. And I would recommend it to anyone who was looking to rescue a cat."

"We have 3 lovely rescue cats from UAE adopted through ECM. Coco joined us in June 2019 followed by Cranberry in December 2019 then Sophie in September 2021.

We found it very hard to ‘choose’ them, because they’re all so deserving of a loving safe home, but ECM helped match us with cats that would fit in perfectly with our routine, setup and each other. Any questions we had were answered promptly and thoroughly, and we had pictures and videos of our cats before they arrived (so we could get even more excited about them)!

They all arrived in good health, vaccinated and neutered and we enjoyed tracking their flights to the UK.

We wouldn’t be without our 3 lovely ladies and love sharing their Lincolnshire home!"

"We adopted both our cats separately through ECM in 2020. First was Phantom in March 2020. The process probably took about 4 weeks from start to finish, which included him being booked onto a flight and transported from the UAE to the UK. His personality is exactly as described by the charity and he settled very well with us.

We then decided to adopt our second cat Juno through ECM in November as we’d had such a great experience with our first adoption. Again Juno was exactly as described personality-wise and is now my little shadow who follows me everywhere.

I would recommend ECM to everyone looking to adopt a rescue cat as we found the process so easy and stress free with lots of photographs and updates of the cats during the process.

Plus, to have a fully vaccinated, chipped and neutered cat flown halfway across the world for under £300 is incredible value!

Both our cats are beautiful and have such lovely personalities, so if you are considering adopting a cat through Every Cat Matters, don’t hesitate, they are brilliant!"
