Gaboo
Gaboo - A Gentle Survivor Learning to Trust
Gaboo’s story is one of resilience, patience, and strength. This beautiful long-haired boy first appeared as a feral cat in his rescuer’s garden, likely bred and then abandoned. When he later became seriously unwell, it took months of careful effort to safely trap him. He was diagnosed with FIV+, a severe mouth infection, and FIP - a combination of serious conditions that required intensive treatment and unwavering care. Against the odds, Gaboo survived.
Now recovered and safe, Gaboo is slowly learning what it means to feel secure. He is cautious by nature and takes time to build trust, but beneath that careful exterior is a deeply sensitive, gentle soul who genuinely wants connection. Once he feels safe with his person, he shows quiet devotion, happily keeping you company, following you from room to room, and settling nearby during calm moments like TV time. He is not a lap cat, but he bonds in a steady, meaningful way that grows over time.
Gaboo also has a curious, exploratory side. He enjoys bird watching, and spending time in his cat tunnel, taking in the world at his own pace. These small adventures are where his confidence begins to show, especially in familiar and calm environments.
Gaboo is looking for a peaceful, indoor-only home with an experienced, patient adopter who understands feline behaviour and trauma, and who can allow him to progress entirely on his own terms. He is not suited to first-time owners. He may live with other FIV+ cats or as a single cat, depending on careful introductions, and has not been tested with dogs or young children.
Gaboo is not just a rescue cat. He is a survivor, waiting for someone kind enough to see the soft, loyal companion beneath his cautious heart.
